Overview

The Technical Writer develops, edits, and maintains technical content designed for diverse audiences and a variety of purposes. This role involves translating complex technical information into clear, accessible documentation through close collaboration with QSC subject matter experts and hands-on experience with QSC hardware and software. The resulting content is tailored to suit the intended audience and media format.

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating both public-facing and service-related documentation, as well as managing outsourced content development projects as needed.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand and clearly communicate complex topics, and will be proficient in using content publishing tools for print, digital, and web-based platforms.

Base Pay Range: $55,000 -- $74,000
We will be accepting applications until a final candidate is identified.

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans and generous time off.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with a wide range of QSC subject matter experts to determine required details and synthesize necessary content from scratch. Create complete and accurate content for several QSC document types, including but not limited to:

    Hardware/software operation manuals and help files.
  • Product service manuals (new or existing products).
  • Product service bulletins.
  • Hardware/software troubleshooting guides.
  • Technical support knowledgebase articles.
  • Application guides.
  • Illustrations required for any of the above, including exploded product views and product schematics, where necessary.

Review, edit, and maintain documentation for clarity, technical accuracy, and current product status according to QSC standards. Manage outsourced documentation projects as necessary, with ultimate responsibility to publish for appropriate target audience and type or media.



Qualifications

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline is preferred.

Experience:

  • With a bachelor's degree: Minimum of 3 years of technical writing experience, including demonstrable examples of published documentation.
  • With a high school diploma or equivalent: Minimum of 6 years of technical writing experience, including demonstrable examples of published documentation.
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes are highly desirable.

Skills and Tools:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Extensive working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and MadCap Flare.
  • Familiarity with CAD software technologies is a plus.
  • Desirable: Video production or post-production skills, particularly for creating step-by-step hardware repair guidance. While the role does not require filming, the ability to post-produce video footage (edit, caption, overdub, finalize) is highly desirable.
