Service Engineer II (South San Francisco, on-site) (*4-10 Hour Shifts, includes weekends)

Responsibilities
Uses professional concepts and company's policies and procedures to solve a wide range of minor/common issues in the lab in accordance with SOPs and under minimal supervision.
May solve moderate issues in accordance with SOPs and under appropriate supervision.
Responsibilities include level I duties in addition to basic troubleshooting, repair of laboratory automation systems and equipment, including custom software and software-driven instrument integrations. Equipment relocation and reinstallation.
Trains Level I engineers on preventive maintenance and general equipment repairs.
Follows communication and good documentation practices in compliance with regulatory (FDA, ISO, CAP/CLIA, New York State) requirements.
Work is consistently accurate and clear.
Coordinates and supports of external field engineer visits.
Completes training for all applicable instruments.
Participates in medium sized-process improvement projects.

Qualifications

Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biology, Computer Science, or related field or,
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biology, Computer Science, or related field with minimum 2 years of relevant experience or,
AS Degree with minimum 4 years of relevant experience or,
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience or,
Minimum 4 year of internal experience with Myriad lab processes. Understanding or background in scientific principles relevant to laboratory operations preferred.
Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions and ability to troubleshoot regular problems.
Understanding of the quality systems and demonstrates compliance with regulatory (FDA,
ISO, CAP/CLIA) requirements for the work performed and regulatory guidelines.
Basic command-line proficiency, preferably with Python, to manipulate custom software integrations.

Physical Requirements
Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently.

Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.

Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards.

OSHA category II - normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.

Applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder)

Compensation will be increased or adjusted based on geographic location, shift and weekend differential.



  • Friday thru Monday
  • 11am-9:30pm and 30 minute lunches
  • Weekend and swing shift differential eligible
