Summary of Job Duties:The Department Business Administrator supports the College of Pharmacy by overseeing day-to-day business operations including financial reporting, grant management, procurement, and contract revenue tracking. This position works closely with the Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance to manage budgets, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with UAMS policies and financial procedures. The role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to create and maintain a high-efficiency work environment. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field plus 4 years' experience in business, finance or administration preferably in a healthcare

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in Workday, Excel, Word and Adobe Pro. Demonstrated experience problem solving.

  • The ability to organize and prioritize competing deadlines.

  • The applicant must have the ability to interact and develop positive working relationships with a diverse group of professionals at all levels within the organization, and community.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all functions in the office.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage budget, procurement, inventory, travel, space, and administrative functions. Review financial reconciliations and assist with variance and benefit reporting.

  • Develop and oversee MOUs, contracts, and journal entries in Workday. Track and project contract revenue.

  • Assist with college-wide budget development and payroll processes. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including for faculty startup accounts and foundation funds.

  • Serve as Grant Manager for the college. Monitor reports, conduct monthly PI meetings, and ensure compliance with financial grant policies. Liaise with ORSP and Grants Accounting.

  • Complete the UAMS Grant Management Certification in Workday within 1 year of hire.

  • Other duties as assigned.
