We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Licensing Specialist II on our Health Solutions team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.
This position will contribute
to the growth of AMA revenue and profitability by managing end user licensing
for assigned AMA business products: identifying new business, bringing under
license unauthorized use of AMA content, and analyzing and recording licensee
royalty data. Serve as liaison with licensees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the process for end user licensing and product fulfillment for assigned AMA business products. Represent the AMA and maintain effective ongoing relationships with end users through regular communications. Proactively contact clients to confirm their access to AMA datafile(s), and confirm they are making full use of the appropriate features of AMA intellectual property.
- Quantify opportunities for incremental licensing revenue, including new client leads and "right-sizing" of usage at existing clients. Serve as subject matter expert for management, identifying and researching unauthorized use of AMA content. Contact infringers regarding licenses for AMA intellectual property. Diligent communication to ensure appropriate licenses are granted and/or unauthorized distribution ends. Coordinate communication with the Legal and Finance Departments.
- Analyze and dashboard royalty data, create custom ad hoc reports, and provide clarity to leadership as requested. Ensure that all data is correct and accurate, and that data is reported to key internal stakeholders accurately and promptly. Coordinate royalty data with Finance Department.
- Respond to inquiries from software developers, publishers, specialty societies, government agencies and healthcare providers and payers regarding license of AMA intellectual property. Apply knowledge of AMA licensing policy to resolve problems unique to these clients. Serve as expert resource for licensees regarding appropriate use of AMA content, obtaining a license for use of the content, complying with the terms of the license agreement and fair use.
- Collaborate across the AMA, including legal, business, finance, IT and advocacy units, to ensure a coordinated and informed intellectual asset management strategy for the AMA. Identify process improvements, and monitor implementation and resulting improvements in efficiency or rate of errors across the team.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
- At least five years' experience in related areas such as marketing or contract administration. Experience in non-profits and/or licensing required.
- Demonstrated expertise ability to exercise independent judgment and clearly, concisely, and discreetly communicate complex material.
- Demonstrated expertise in communicating complex material in a concise and clear manner.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and contract management systems. Advanced Web researching and editing skills.
- Mature skills in interpersonal internal and external communication, including maintaining client relationships.
- Previous experience working with external organizations to ensure compliance with contracts; particularly in close collaboration with Sales, Finance and Legal departments.
- Strong planning, organizing and prioritizing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member to successfully identify, implement, and sustain process improvements.
- Demonstrated expert ability to navigate stressful situations and delicate client interactions and mitigate risk.
This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $72,705.60 - $96,390.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
