EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's Degree in field related to assigned areas of responsibility or a closely related field desired. 3 years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • One year of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles.
  • Experience developing and maintaining data dictionaries, business glossaries, or metadata preferred.
  • Familiarity with education industry data and terminology is a plus.
  • Understanding of data controls, roles, responsibilities, and policies preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies, Power BI, and/or Azure-native services desirable.
  • Exposure to legal and regulatory frameworks governing data (such as GDPR, CCPA) preferred.


PAY
Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $65,800 to $89,000.

HOURS
Standard Monday through Friday, there may be occasional schedule adjustments, as needed, for key projects and technology rollouts.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Governance Analyst is responsible for the following key responsibilities:



  • Assist and support the implementation and maintenance of policies, standards, and procedures for enterprise data governance.
  • Develop and manage data dictionaries, metadata, and data catalogs to aid in the understanding, adoption and utilization of university data.
  • Perform data quality assessments and execute routines to identify and resolve data anomalies in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Provide operational support for data stewardship initiatives, helping stakeholders resolve issues and implement controls.
  • Ensure the adoption of required policies and standards across the University.
  • Define key data quality metrics and indicators and facilitate the development of implementation and supporting standards.
  • Monitor and track key data governance metrics and produce reports to assess progress and maturity.
  • Support education and training initiatives by developing materials and delivering sessions to promote data literacy and stewardship responsibilities across the University.
  • Collaborate and assist the Data Governance Lead and stakeholders to implement workflows, controls, and validation routines to safeguard data integrity and consistency.
  • Assist with deploying data issue capture and resolution process through root-cause analysis and follow-up to implement corrective actions.
  • Grow, mature and enforce data documentation to reflect data definitions, business rules, and responsibilities in the University's data ecosystem.
  • Support ongoing reviews of roles, responsibilities, and controls to align with policy and operational goals.
  • Provide input into and help execute data improvement initiatives and special projects.
  • Assist in evaluating and testing tools and technologies to aid in the delivery of data governance initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration across departments by participating in working groups and meetings to resolve data-related issues and clarify responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position half of the time.
  • Verbally communicates with students, staff and colleagues via telephone or face to face conversations.
  • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
  • Operate equipment specific to programmatic track, personal computer, audio-visual equipment, etc.
  • Frequently lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel on work assignments nationally.
  • Ability to work additional hours during week and/or weekend, as required.
