Job Summary:

The Senior Credit Officer is responsible for establishing, implementing, monitoring and overseeing all aspects of credit risk management practices across commercial, consumer, and residential mortgage portfolios.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:




  • Oversee Bank lending activities and the development, management, and administration of loan policies to ensure the quality and integrity of the Bank's lending portfolio.


  • Conduct the recruitment, training, supervision, and mentorship of credit analysts.


  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of loan summaries, ensuring the accuracy and thoroughness of financial statement analyses, debt service coverage calculations, and collateral position.


  • Ensure accurate and timely risk rating of loan portfolio.


  • Approve or deny loans in accordance with the established lending limit.


  • Present alternative credit options and innovative credit structures to ensure transactions comply with profitability targets and portfolio risk guidelines.


  • Track delinquency across all loan portfolios and support lenders with collection activities.


  • Prepare a variety of board and regulatory reports, including those related to ACL, credit concentration, and stress testing.


  • Responsible for setting specific reserves for distressed credits and qualitative factors for various segments of loan portfolio.


  • Lead quarterly problem loan reporting process, presenting recommendations to Executive Loan Committee.


  • Manage Bank-owned real estate and work with developers, realtors, and others to market and quickly dispose of OREO assets.


  • Have a solid understanding of all applicable banking regulations to ensure the safety and soundness of the Bank.


  • Coordinate and serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audits and regulatory exams relating to credit quality.


  • Manage a portfolio of complex commercial credits.


  • Chair Loan Review Committee and serve as a voting member.


Qualifications

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree or relevant professional certification such as CFA or CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit analysis, risk management, or related financial services roles.
  • Proven track record of managing complex credit portfolios and making informed credit decisions.
  • Experience in a senior or leadership role within a banking or financial institution is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing credit policies and procedures.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial statements, credit reports, and market data.
  • Excellent decision-making skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in using financial analysis software and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
