Job Summary

This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for the HDFS corporate accounting function. This includes managing the monthly financial closes and reporting, providing oversight and support to the team, including corporate accounts payable, to ensure maintenance of accurate books and records, and leading and/or participating in projects. This position manages employees on the Corporate Accounting team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees and develops the Corporate Accounting team
  • Ensures the Accounting team's commitment to timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP, HDFS policies and procedures, Sarbanes-Oxley and internal controls
  • Manages the monthly consolidated HDFS close, financial statement preparation, including HDFS-related areas of the Harley-Davidson, Inc. quarterly and annual SEC filings
  • Leads the Accounting team's review of contracts, technical research, and accounting treatment assessments to support business operations and projects
  • Acts as key internal and external audit contact
  • Assists Financial Planning & Analysis in the preparation and analysis of the annual budget and periodic forecasts\
  • Supports system enhancements and testing, including the general ledger and other key corporate systems
  • Ensures compliance with Cap Ex, T&E, and spending policies, ensures compliance with 1099 reporting requirements as well as accounting compliance with regulatory directives
  • Protection of information and compliance with the law are paramount. Protecting employee, customer and corporate information is everyone's responsibility. All employees must follow established safeguards, including policies regarding data protection, segregation of duties, and access to information based solely on business need. Further, it is the responsibility of all employees to maintain awareness and understanding of relevant laws, regulations, internal policies, and procedures, and to comply with all of them.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Required
Education Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending training, establishing personal networks, and participation in professional societies

Experience Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience
  • General ledger and financial reporting experience
  • Strong technical accounting research and implementation background
  • Extensive team management experience with varying staff levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Preferred



  • Public accounting experience
  • CPA designation
  • Financial services and/or insurance experience
