The base salary range for a Group Services Specialist I is $82,000.00 - $148,000.00. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure and equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Sr. Business Intelligence Developer Overview

The Sr BI Developer will support the needs of the business by designing, implementing and maintaining data solutions. The primary focus of this role includes analyzing business requirements to design, develop and update dashboards, reports, data extracts and other BI solutions. The solutions developed by the Sr BI Developer should focus on timely and cost-effective methods for achieving deliverables. The Sr BI Developer should adhere to development, testing, change management and documentation standards. Performs design, management and administration of BI platforms and environments. The Sr BI Developer also explores emerging technologies to support and enhance BI capabilities and provides technical leadership to junior team members.

Essential Duties:



  • Develops BI reports, dashboards and ETL processes based on requirements specified
  • Serves as a technical lead for large-scale projects and corporate initiative
  • Understands complex business requirements and translates them into technical specifications
  • Performs complex data analysis to support requirements gathering and documentation and to ensure quality of data
  • Conducts unit testing of solutions developed and assists in validating outputs
  • Conducts troubleshooting and support of existing solutions
  • Creates and maintains documentation related to solutions being developed
  • Translates business requirements into technical design documentation
  • Conducts training, change management and release planning for solutions being deployed
  • Optimizes existing solutions and identifies key areas where efficiency can be gained through automation
  • Works on personal development.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Advanced skills writing SQL queries in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or other industry leading RDBMS
  • Advanced skills in creating reports and dashboards using Microsoft Reporting Services, Microsoft Power BI, Business Objects, Cognos or other reporting tools
  • Strong skills creating ETL processes using Microsoft Integration Services, Informatica or other data integration tools
  • Competent skills designing and maintaining OLAP cubes and data models using Microsoft Analysis Services or other tools
  • Strong skills with dimensional data modeling and data warehousing methodologies
  • Competent skills creating processes to assess and report data quality metrics
  • Experience writing effective technical specifications or other documentation
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with a wide range of audiences and maintain interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to persuade, negotiate, influence and interact effectively with other people in the organization
  • Ability to work within time constraints and manage multiple tasks against critical deadlines
  • Ability to perform complex problem solving and apply critical thinking, deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning to identify solutions
  • Ability to analyze systems or processes to determine impacts of changes and perform root cause analysis


Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of related IT experience
  • Or, equivalent military experience


Preferred Education and Experience:



  • Master's Degree in related field or professional certification in relevant area
  • IT related experience in the Health or Ancillary Insurance industry
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements


Working Conditions (Physical Demands):

Occasional travel (one to two times per year) as required
