Description
As an Associate Engineer, you possess exceptional organizational skills and multi-tasking ability. Theindividual will be responsible for verifying air source heat pump installations through post inspection sitevisits and analyzing project work scopes for savings using manufacturers' information, plans, andspecifications to validate and calculate the impact from energy efficiency recommendations identifiedby other department team members. Responsibilities:
- Experience with mechanical systems, especially heat pumps, building science, managing contractors, job costing, analyzing written work scope and energy efficiency analysis is preferred.
- The selected individual will work within systems and processes in place at RISE to perform job functions.
- The position will require a combination of independent and collaborative work in a mix of field and office functions reporting to the Director of Electro-Mechanical Services.
Field
- Inspecting implementation of applications of air source heat pump technologies in single familyand multifamily buildings.
- Schedule & perform in-progress and final inspections of contracted projects.
- Manage multiple projects in differing stages and scales concurrently.
- Quickly and efficiently resolve any installation, craftsmanship, warranty, customer service orother issues.
- Work with the billing department to ensure timely, accurate invoices.
- Ensure consistent adherence to company and industry standards.
- Maintain consistent communication with department team members.
- Collect field data for completing Manual J heat loss modeling
- Maintain rapport with diverse client base
Office
- Developing energy savings analyses and written reports for the installation of recommendedimprovements using documented engineering methods and principles and/or existing modelsand methodologies that are approved and certified in the industry.
- Manage development and analyses of multiple projects concurrently.
- Support development of vendor driven multi-family project sites.
- Ongoing industry research, product knowledge training & vendor networking
- Ensure consistent adherence to company and industry standards.
- Maintain consistent communication with department team members and utility partners.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, with a demonstrated interest inenergy efficiency and building science preferred
- 1-2 years of experience in the energy efficiency field preferred
- Prior experience writing technical reports
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a varying
workload effectively under general direction.
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel
- Experience with building energy modeling (eQuest or Wrightsoft) preferred
- Able to travel to job sites throughout Mass. or R.I. as needed.
Travel: This position is based in Cranston, RI and includes day-trip travel to project sites in MA & RI, including Cape Cod. Position requires about 50% local travel (MA & RI). Travel to other states may be necessary based on business needs. Positions Type and Expected hours of Work: This is a full-time 40-hour position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Work Environment:
- Work is performed indoors in a professional office environment and outdoors and is subject to extreme weather conditions, humidity, odors, and loud noises.
- May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces and enter dusty environments.
Physical Demands: Frequent:
- Standing, walking and climbing stairs throughout the day every day.
- Ability to utilize a variety of computerized devices for a prolonged period of time.
- Answering the phone throughout the day every day.
- The ability to visit and move around at work sites, including maneuvering into tight and small spaces.
- Clarity of vision at both over 20 feet and under 20 inches.
- Ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- An area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while fixed on a point.
- Adjustment of eye to bring object into sharp focus.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Occasional:
- Able to stoop, bend and reach (push/pull)
- Lift, carry and otherwise transport work-related materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
