JOB SUMMARY:

The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily custodial operations of an AbilityOne contract at GIC contract facilities. This includes supervising staff, ensuring adequate coverage, maintaining cleanliness standards, and conducting routine/spot quality inspections. The supervisor ensures that all assigned buildings are properly maintained and operate in compliance with contract requirements.

In addition, the Custodial Supervisor must be able to perform other duties in support of operations, including the use of a company vehicle to transport employees to and from the worksite.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain flexibility to accommodate night and weekend shifts as needed; primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Supervise employees and program participants in assigned areas to ensure effective performance and adherence to standards.
  • Schedule work and assign tasks to ensure timely and proper completion of custodial duties.
  • Complete all required records/reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform hands-on custodial tasks as required, including buffing, waxing, carpet shampooing, and general cleaning.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections; identify deficiencies and recommend or initiate corrective actions.
  • Follow up to ensure all deficiencies are resolved within required performance standards.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times; demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assume new responsibilities as needed.
  • Utilize computer-based timekeeping software to manage employee time and attendance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols in accordance with GIC policies, procedures, and contract site-specific requirements.
  • Effectively manage and motivate staff, with an emphasis on maintaining morale and a positive work environment.
  • Communicate with building tenants and managers to ensure custodial services meet contractual standards.
  • Operate a company van to transport workers to and from GIC contract facilities at designated pick-up/drop-off locations.
  • Provide training to employees and program participants to support performance and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two years' custodial supervisory experience with quality management experience preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • ISSA/CIMS training certificate preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium

Lifting up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Moderate

Employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
