Description
The Lab Optimization Principal Consultant is accountable for the promotion and delivery of laboratory optimization services to bioMerieux internal/external customers. The primary focus is business development: supporting sales, assisting LO Director in new service development, and ongoing development of the Lab Consultancy team. Primary Duties:
- Lead Laboratory Optimization projects.
- Effectively Collect data: Time and Motion, Cycle times, etc.
- Analyze and interpret large data sets using Minitab and Excel to identify and drive change with customers.
- Effectively present, describe and demonstrate end-to-end solution and optimized laboratory workflow.
- Build and maintain customer relationships to promote change and ensure efficiency and quality in the account.
- Oversee Laboratory Optimization solutions portfolio with a team revenue target.
- Expertly facilitate Kaizen event and laboratory assessments with customers, create and effectively communicate vision for future laboratory operations.
- Partner with the Sales team to promote and drive strategic development for Lab Optimization services with instrument sales.
- Mentor and train new consultants.
- Partner with customer, sales, CSO to implement continuous improvement to meet customer needs.
- Coordinate CRM to Schedule, deliver and follow-up on Lab Optimization services.
- Assist Director in collaboration with Global Lab Consultancy team.
- Lead Change Management processes internally and externally.
- Ensure projects are revenue driven to meet revenue targets.
- Builds expertise by actively participating in professional development.
- Meet the minimum time on client delivery efforts.
- May lead a team of consultants during projects.
- All other duties as assigned.
Training and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field is required.
- Six Sigma certification (minimum of a green belt) required.
Experience:
- 10+ years' experience in clinical laboratory setting required; Microbiology expertise required.
- 8+ years Laboratory Consultancy experience required to include Lab Workflow, operational efficiency, and workflow standardization.
- 6+ years' combined experience with change management and project management.
- 5+ years' Lean & Six Sigma experience related to product development and business process optimization.
- 1 year Laboratory Management, Section Lead or Supervisor experience preferred.
- Experience in continuous improvement, process analysis, laboratory operations, data management and analysis, laboratory automation, systems integration and implementation required.

- Strong knowledge of bioMerieux product ranges/services/solutions and Sales strategy, IVD market and competition understanding.
- Proficient with desktop applications (MS outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and Excel (formulas, pivot tables, charts, and graphs), Minitab for data required.
- Team player with a high degree of integrity, authenticity, creativity, and emotional intelligence.
- Strategic business acumen.
- Ability to work well under pressure in ambiguous environments.
- Working knowledge of cost-accounting/finances as it relates to clinical labs preferred.
