Principal Lab Optimization Consultant

The Lab Optimization Principal Consultant is accountable for the promotion and delivery of laboratory optimization services to bioMerieux internal/external customers. The primary focus is business development: supporting sales, assisting LO Director in new service development, and ongoing development of the Lab Consultancy team.

Primary Duties:

1. Lead Laboratory Optimization projects.
2. Effectively Collect data: Time and Motion, Cycle times, etc.
3. Analyze and interpret large data sets using Minitab and Excel to identify and drive change with customers.
4. Effectively present, describe and demonstrate end-to-end solution and optimized laboratory workflow.
5. Build and maintain customer relationships to promote change and ensure efficiency and quality in the account.
6. Oversee Laboratory Optimization solutions portfolio with a team revenue target.
7. Expertly facilitate Kaizen event and laboratory assessments with customers, create and effectively communicate vision for future laboratory operations.
8. Partner with the Sales team to promote and drive strategic development for Lab Optimization services with instrument sales.
9. Mentor and train new consultants.
10. Partner with customer, sales, CSO to implement continuous improvement to meet customer needs.
11. Coordinate CRM to Schedule, deliver and follow-up on Lab Optimization services.
12. Assist Director in collaboration with Global Lab Consultancy team.
13. Lead Change Management processes internally and externally.
14. Ensure projects are revenue driven to meet revenue targets.
15. Builds expertise by actively participating in professional development.
16. Meet the minimum time on client delivery efforts.
17. May lead a team of consultants during projects.
18. All other duties as assigned.

Training and Education:

1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field is required.
2. Six Sigma certification (minimum of a green belt) required.

Experience:

1. 10+ years' experience in clinical laboratory setting required; Microbiology expertise required.
2. 8+ years Laboratory Consultancy experience required to include Lab Workflow, operational efficiency, and workflow standardization.
3. 6+ years' combined experience with change management and project management.
4. 5+ years' Lean & Six Sigma experience related to product development and business process optimization.
5. 1 year Laboratory Management, Section Lead or Supervisor experience preferred.
6. Experience in continuous improvement, process analysis, laboratory operations, data management and analysis, laboratory automation, systems integration and implementation required.

9. Strong knowledge of bioMerieux product ranges/services/solutions and Sales strategy, IVD market and competition understanding.
10. Proficient with desktop applications (MS outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and Excel (formulas, pivot tables, charts, and graphs), Minitab for data required.
11. Team player with a high degree of integrity, authenticity, creativity, and emotional intelligence.
12. Strategic business acumen.
13. Ability to work well under pressure in ambiguous environments.
14. Working knowledge of cost-accounting/finances as it relates to clinical labs preferred.
