This Position reports to:

Plant Manager - Motors and Mechanical

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) at ABB's Saint Louis NEMA Motors Plant serves as a key advisor, coach, and strategic partner to plant leadership and frontline supervisors. This role is responsible for fostering a high-performing, accountable, and engaged workforce by providing consistent, hands-on support in all areas of human resources, including employee relations, talent development, performance management, and hourly staffing.

The successful candidate must be proactive, approachable, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to build trust at all levels of the organization. The HRBP is expected to actively contribute to a culture of respect, transparency, and continuous improvement. Position would have one direct report (onsite HR Support Specialist) as additional support.

This role will need to be able to work onsite (#LI-Onsite) in our St. Louis, MO manufacturing facility. The Plant operates with three shifts from Monday - Friday - this position will work largely standard business hours with the need to overlap with other shifts on occasion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with employees, supervisors, team leads, and backup leads across all shifts; Act as a coach and advisor to frontline leadership on people-related issues, emphasizing accountability, fairness, and policy adherence.

  • Lead fair, thorough, and timely investigations into workplace concerns, including hotline reports, with a focus on root cause resolution.

  • Lead hourly recruitment efforts, including coordination with external staffing partners and local workforce development initiatives.

  • Support workforce planning, attendance management, and manpower tracking to help the plant meet productivity and labor cost targets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • HR Certification (PHR, SHRM-CP), Workday HCM knowledge, and experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement environments preferred but not required.

  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, coaching techniques, investigations, and labor practices; Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.

  • High level of emotional intelligence, maturity, and discretion, Ability to remain calm, objective, and focused in high-pressure situations.

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
