Overview

Conduct day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, which includes, greeting internal and external guests to the Human Resources department, administer payroll, conduct new hire on-boarding, review of company benefit programs, conducting enrollments, answering questions, administrative duties and troubleshooting problems. This is a full-time position: M-F and Sun-Thurs bi-weekly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

*Assist associates whenever possible with requests and/or information. Answer associate questions and/or address associate concerns in a timely manner.

*Able to prepare bi-weekly payroll, data entry of tips/gratuities, incentives, garnishments, vacation, sick and flexible time. Ensure all payroll transactions are accurate. Perform quarterly payroll audit.

*Partner with various departments to ensure seamless payroll processing and gather missing data needed to complete payroll timely.

*Liaison with associates regarding all pay inquiries and resolve any payroll issues. Able to investigate and resolve balance errors, etc.

*Review accuracy of payroll including all deductions and report all discrepancies to Director of Human Resources.

*Order Out-of-Cycle payroll checks as needed in compliance with CA labor laws. Distribute paychecks as needed.

*Assist in the recruiting, screening and reference checks for all hotel positions. Schedule interviews and process related paperwork maintaining applicant flow data.

*Monitor and update job requisitions as required. Communicate hotel job openings internally and externally, via bulletin board postings, and diversity partners.

*Respond to all interviewed applicants via telephone or letter via Workday within required time frame. Process all internal transfer requests in the required time frame.

*Coordinate all other pre-hire activities, including reference and background checks, etc., to ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.

*Assist Director of Human Resources in achieving goals and objectives as identified in the hotel's annual Affirmative Action Plan (AAP).

*Ensure all new hires and existing associates possess proper employment eligibility verifications.

*Create, maintain and update accurate department and associate files.

*Explain elements of various benefit plans to associates and assist with enrollment and claims processing. Process benefits enrollments and other functions electronically within eligibility time frame.

*Assist with associate relations events and recognition, as needed, e.g., Associate of the Month, Birthday/Anniversary Recognition, Monthly Town Hall Meetings, Community Service, etc.

*Create and update Human Resources bulletin boards, event flyers and other posting locations as needed.

*Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

*Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

*High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.

*2+ years of Customer Service in a high volume environment, Human Resources experience as well as Hotel experience preferred.

*1+ year(s) of payroll processing experience for 100+ associates and/or progressive accounting/bookkeeping experience.

*Bilingual in fluent Spanish or Chinese preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

*Proficient with payroll processing software, preferably Workday.

*Data analysis skills with the ability to analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies.

*Efficiently managing time to meet deadlines, under time constraints and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

*Skilled with Microsoft Office programs and Canva.

*Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to plan, organize, perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.

*Written and verbal communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, and clear with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

*Ability to adapt verbal and written communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with management and associates.

*Understanding and addressing employee concerns with empathy and professionalism.

*Capacity to maintain composure and focus when pulled away from critical tasks to address unexpected issues or urgent requests. This includes calmly switching between priorities without losing track of important details.

*Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with a sense of urgency and humor.

*Avid problem solver, intellectually curious with strong customer service skills.

*Adhere to the highest level of confidentiality, maintaining the privacy of associate information and handling sensitive data with discretion.
