Job Description

Position Summary:

At the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer (QE) will be generally responsible for customer satisfaction, ensuring adherence to procedures, maintenance and improvement of the quality management system, improvement of inspection and testing techniques, and continuous improvement of quality metrics. The QE will utilize a wide range of knowledge and professional skills to drive Quality Engineering and Continuous Improvement initiatives and projects. The candidate will be the focal point for interfacing Quality Assurance issues with internal and external customers/suppliers ensuring compliance to the appropriate requirements including non-conformance analysis and implementation of effective countermeasures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducts audits by suppliers/vendors to ensure compliance to specification.
  • Represents Helicomb during customer and regulatory audit activities such as AS9100, ISO, NADCAP, customer, and supplier oversight audits.
  • Research, write and recommend changes to procedures, work instructions and forms.
  • Develop and maintain electronic Quality reports and presentations.
  • Expedite and complete NCR disposition processes.
  • Assist as needed with Helicomb training program.
  • Participate as an internal Quality Auditor.
  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.
  • Ensures manufacturing operations is compliant with customer/internal specifications by collaborating with production, manufacturing engineering, and design.
  • Assists suppliers with manufacturing problems with fabrication of composites.
  • Train employees regarding quality compliance, inspection methods and procedures and consults manufacturing on Qualify Management System and customer compliance, and regulatory issues.
  • Uses Catia/Enovia to construct models to compare production parts to engineering requirements.
  • Develops Quality Metrics to provide cost, defect, cause, and analysis to company senior leadership and manufacturing managers.
  • Conducts data mining in various databases to prepare Cost of Quality analysis for Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Operations to determine which processes need to be targets for Continuous Improvement.
  • Assists in Root Cause/Corrective action process as a subject matter expert.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
  • At least two years quality engineer experience
  • Aerospace experience preferred
  • Technical requirements
    • Knowledge of ISO 9000, AS9100, and NADCAP requirements
    • ASQ/CQE certification preferred
