THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Institutional Fire Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for the fire prevention and safety program at SCI Camp Hill. You will oversee the Fire Emergency Response Team (FERT), evaluate program compliance, identify program needs, and participate in the Safety Initiative Committee. You will also conduct facility walkthroughs and inspections, review incident reports, and recommend preventative measures. This role requires the ability to independently utilize skilled knowledge and experience in the administration of the fire prevention and safety while following industry standards, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. In addition, you will provide status update reports to the Safety Manager, develop corrective action plans for program deficiencies, and provide guidance to staff in the interpretation and application of fire safety policies and practices.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of institution safety work, including one year of fire prevention and fire fighting work, and completion of two years of college; or
  • One year of institutional fire and safety work, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
