THE POSITION

Are you detail-oriented and resourceful? If so, start a new chapter in your career as a Purchasing Agent with the Banking & Securities Fiscal Support Services Office. This position gives you the opportunity to serve as the agency's procurement officer where you will be responsible for procurement of all departmental services, supplies, office equipment, furniture, and fixtures. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Purchasing Agent, you will utilize and research Department of General Services (DGS) e-Marketplace website to ensure most up-to -date contracts and price guides are used for purchasing requisitions. Work involves contacting vendors to verify current pricing, obtaining quotes for items, and requesting expedited delivery of critical items. You will have the opportunity to handle complaints and adjustments of any supplies and services with vendors or Department of Banking and Securities (DoBS) staff. You will be responsible for reviewing purchase requirements, researching supplies and services available through all venues, as well as assisting with preparing the agency's Annual Strategic Plan for Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion and Small Business Opportunities (BDISBO). Additional responsibilities include:

  • Processing payments, service contracts, and supply purchases
  • Verifying vendors are in compliance with all state taxes
  • Serving as the Agency Purchasing Request (APR) Coordinator and Property Control Officer
  • Reconciling monthly purchasing card statements
  • Maintaining Payment Information Transaction Sheets (PITS)
  • Assisting with administrative functions in the Fiscal and Support Services Office

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
