This role offers a unique opportunity to directly impact client satisfaction and drive business growth through innovative technical solutions and strong client engagement.
You'll be a critical resource for the experienced outside sales team, diving deep into unusual specifications and standards that even clients may not fully understand. Your expertise will be crucial in providing recommendations and solutions to complex engineering challenges, particularly those involving cold-headed parts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with commercial staff on sales calls, offering in-depth technical expertise, presenting the business model, and showcasing product capabilities.
* Develop a deep understanding of key suppliers' production and processing capabilities through on-site visits to provide comprehensive support to the sales team and customers.
* Serve as the primary engineering contact between clients and subcontractors, addressing all technical matters related to product design, application, and function. This includes conducting fastener application studies, utilizing various tools and materials, and generating detailed technical reports. You'll be the go-to expert for guiding both sales and clients through intricate technical requirements.
* Partner with commercial teams and clients to identify opportunities for cost reductions through proactive VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) proposals, including on-site assessments at manufacturing facilities.
* Cultivate strong relationships with client engineering teams to foster early involvement in new projects and ensure seamless collaboration.
* Provide essential technical support for new product development initiatives and successful product launches.
* Conduct engaging technical training sessions for our commercial staff to enhance their product knowledge and technical understanding.
* Address a wide range of customer needs and requirements as they arise, ensuring exceptional service.
* Provide technical interpretation of 2D/3D engineering drawings and specifications, and manage 3D CAD software to support the commercial team's needs.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, and or a combination of equivalent education and experiences.
* Extensive experience with cold-headed parts in manufacturing or similar over an extended period.
* Expertise in automotive specifications and industrial standards applicable to cold-headed parts such as fasteners (nuts, bolts, screws, etc.).
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when dealing with complex, non-standard engineering challenges.
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Proficiency in blueprint reading, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and hands-on experience with common fastener inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, thread gages).
* Strong computer skills, including proficiency with PC operating systems and engineering software, especially CAD and other 2D/3D construction techniques.
* Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support client and supplier engagements.
