We are seeking a Billing Associate to help us perform billing operations activities in accordance with contractual requirements and government regulations. If you are a candidate with a strong focus on partnering and continuous process improvement, who is meticulous and demonstrates excellent organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills, then this is the role for you.

As a Billing Associate...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to use an Oracle contracts and billing system to facilitate contract set up, carry out billing activities, and perform invoice collection efforts for government and commercial contracts and grants, enabling effective cash management of APL business operations. Your attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills will come into play while you monitor and maintain contractual and regulatory controls to ensure data quality from funding entry through contract closeout via data analysis and reports.
  • We expect you to investigate, analyze, advance, and resolve billing and collection issues. Your solution-centric approach will also be instrumental in offering ideas to improve overall billing and collection practices.
  • Using your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will serve as a liaison between sponsors, contracts, and program business teams that cultivates productive relationships and information sharing that is essential to the successful execution of APL's missions.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned, including supporting Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audit requests.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a B.A./B.S. in Business or related field or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Are excellent at maintaining accuracy while multitasking, extracting data needs, prioritizing assignments, communicating progress, and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, and the ability to work with all levels of staff and sponsors
  • Exhibit a self-starter mentality, shows extraordinary initiative, and analyzes and resolves challenges independently and in a team-based setting
  • Have a strong desire to learn and can easily adapt to changing environments
  • Are able to collaboratively perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Show proficiency in working with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Hold US Citizenship or permanent resident status, as required to access APL's facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have 1-3 years of government contract and/or grant experience
  • Have experience with Oracle Project Billing and/or other APL business applications
  • Have experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) or Government contracting environment

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. $58,700 Annually

Maximum Rate

$146,300 Annually
