This position offers a hybrid work option (up to 50%) and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The contributions you will make: This position ensures the effective day-to-day operations of the Sponsor Finance and Private Debt team, including setting the strategic direction of the department, performance standards, managing workflow, evaluating performance, and recommending team member actions. The incumbent manages and trains team members and assists them in developing relationships with investors and clients. Promotes the Farm Credit System philosophy and reputation and ensures adherence to statutes, regulations, policies and procedures. Maintains certain key investor relationships with private equity clients. Provides critical evaluation of transactions underwritten by the business unit. Effectively manages credit administration, compliance and credit quality for the Sponsor portfolio to meet established goals and objectives

A typical day:



  • Designs and executes commercial strategies that leverage Compeers capabilities and competitive advantages to create differentiated offerings in the marketplace.
  • Establishes business development goals for assigned teams and individuals.
  • Supports new business by working closely with team members in identifying potential Sponsor and Private Debt clients, acquiring new clients, and growing client relationships, while also leveraging Compeer's existing broad relationships and network to identify clients and referral partners within the capital markets industry.
  • Participates in the development of new products/services as needed.
  • Assists leadership in defining the team's strategic direction and goals.
  • Keeps abreast of industry best practices. Identifies and executes efficient and effective practices that enhance the team's value.
  • Translates vision and strategies into practical, effective, and efficient operating plans in order to achieve the organizations short- and long-term sales objectives.
  • Monitors and interprets market trends and conducts competitive analysis to determine the strategic direction of the business, including product development, service expansion, and business development.
  • Monitors industries and regulatory agencies for changes that may affect clients.
  • Develops important business networks and resources that provide new ideas and information
  • Proactively cooperates with other business unit leaders and sales team members to promote Compeer's institutional capabilities with prospective and existing clients.
  • Assesses portfolio to maintain credit exposure levels within internal guidelines and works with team members, such as credit and audit, to develop sound lending policies and procedures.



The skills and experience we prefer you have:



  • Bachelor's degree in, finance, economics, business administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. MBA preferred.
  • Advanced experience in banking and/or financial services industry including sponsor coverage and portfolio management.
  • Advanced level of leadership and management experience, preferred.
  • Background in Food and/or Ag Business preferred.
  • Solid experience covering private equity sponsors and other institutional investors.
  • Advanced leadership, organizational, problem solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Solid knowledge of credit analysis and structuring fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated decision making abilities, and proven credibility in influencing and working effectively senior leaders and executives.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of institutional clients, Borrower clients, and Compeer management.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

Base Pay

$185,600 - $283,600 USD
