Senior Director, Demand & Supply Planning

Utz Quality Foods, Inc
401(k), profit sharing
United States, Pennsylvania, Hanover
Jul 10, 2025

Utz Quality Foods is currently seeking a Senior Director Demand & Supply Planning to serve as a critical leader responsible for end-to-end supply chain planning across a fast-paced Consumer Packaged Goods(CPG) network. This role leads Demand Planning, Finished Goods Inventory Management, Supply & Capacity Planning, and the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process-including ownership of the Demand and Supply IBP cycles. This leader ensures high service levels (e.g., case fill), optimized inventory deployment, and production strategies aligned with both operational capabilities and business objectives.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in supply chain, finance, and cross-functional planning within a manufacturing environment, preferably in consumer-packaged goods (CPG) or food production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the Demand and Supply Planning cycles within the company's IBP framework.
  • Manage a cross-functional team of demand and supply planners who generate key inputs and scenarios to support executive decision-making.
  • Ensure the IBP process drives alignment across Commercial, Operations, and Finance teams on demand, supply, and financial goals.
  • Advance the maturity and business impact of the IBP process through governance, automation, and scenario planning tools.
  • Lead the monthly demand planning process, incorporating inputs from Sales, Marketing, Finance, and trade activity.
  • Coordinate closely with Sales & Marketing to align demand forecasts with product launches, promotions, and seasonal events.
  • Own KPIs such as forecast accuracy and forecast bias, driving continuous improvement through root-cause analysis and predictive analytics.
  • Use demand signals to support long-term strategic planning and short-term operational agility.
  • Oversee supply planning processes that convert demand forecasts into executable production and distribution plans.
  • Manage production capacity planning by manufacturing site (internal plants and co-packers), accounting for constraints such as labor, equipment, and sanitation schedules.
  • Lead Distribution Resource Planning (DRP) to ensure finished goods are positioned optimally across the distribution network.
  • Optimize production sequencing and lead cross-functional collaboration to minimize changeovers, maximize utilization, and align with customer requirements.
  • Own case fill rate performance, ensuring that product is available to meet customer demand across all channels.
  • Develop and implement predictive models and exception-based alerts to proactively address service risks.
  • Partner with Logistics, Customer Service, and Sales to align service performance with customer expectations and channel-specific requirements.
  • Define and execute inventory strategies for finished goods to support high case fill rates, minimize spoilage, and manage working capital.
  • Track and optimize inventory turns, days of supply, and freshness, accounting for shelf-life, demand variability, and capacity planning.
  • Use real-time data and scenario modeling to anticipate inventory imbalances and take corrective action proactively.
  • Lead cross-functional scenario planning to evaluate the impact of production and supply strategies on inventory levels and service performance.
  • Use modeling tools to simulate supply/demand disruptions, shifts in production mix, promotional events, and capacity constraints.
  • Support executive decision-making by providing trade-off analyses on cost, service, and risk.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team responsible for planning, analysis, and IBP cycle execution.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive planning transformation initiatives, including system implementations, process standardization, and digital enablement.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, operations, or commercial planning, including 3-5 years leading IBP/S&OP processes.
  • Prior experience in the food or consumer packaged goods industry highly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to link operational planning to strategic and financial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at the executive level.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing IBP, S&OP tools and platforms.
  • Highly analytical, with demonstrated ability to manage large datasets and enable data-driven decisions.
  • Proven ability to align planning processes with strategy, manage complexity, and drive business transformation.
  • Exceptional facilitation, storytelling, and communication skills to engage executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
