We are searching for a dynamic and motivated DSQR/Source Inspector to join our team at our Bloomfield, Connecticut location. First shift hours are 6:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday, as business needs currently require one hour of mandatory daily overtime.

Our products are used in space, aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications. As an industry leader we design, test and manufacture the highest performing, self-lubricating, roller element, metal to metal and miniature bearings in the industry.

Position Summary:

Prepare customer source inspection packages. Review purchase orders, quality data and customer requirements. Ensure manufacturing sequence of operations have been performed in compliance with customer, industry, and in-house specifications. Release products on behalf of customer. As required, perform basic inspection activities of product, materials, first piece inspection and in-process monitoring as assigned. Report to Quality Assurance Team Leader regarding quality issues as well as work assignments to meet production schedules.

Responsibilities:



  • Maintain up to date customer/industry certification and training for DSQR delegation.
  • Prepare products and related paperwork for presentation to customer or source inspection as a Designated Supplier Quality Representative for customers as well as interact with customers at source inspection when required.
  • Ensure customer purchase order requirements have been met and authorize shipment of products.
  • Support Internal, Operator and Process, and Customer Audits as required.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance. Perform first piece, in-process and final inspection as needed.
  • Identify defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blueprints and Kamatics' quality standards. Report non-conformance of materials or unusual conditions to Quality Supervisor and cell leader.
  • Use a variety of conventional and advanced inspection gages and devices to verify dimensions to drawing specifications.
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow work procedures.
  • Maintain records, data and logs as necessary. Create inspection forms such as IMS, first article and other related forms.
  • Navigate computer files and software to acquire necessary items for inspection, verification, etc. Use software such as Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets to present data. Navigate customer portals.
  • Provide leadership/training as needed. Ensure that production schedules are met.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contribute to 5S programs in work area.


  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
  • May be asked to work extended hours to support customer needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in training/learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed.



Requirement/Qualifications:



  • Education: High school education or equivalent
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Aerospace manufacturing preferred.


  • Skills:

    • Strong attention to details
    • Ability to use precision instruments, including coordinate measuring machines
    • Familiar with Inspection Method Sheets/First Articles
    • Read and interpret complex blue prints
    • Exposure and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Computer skills; MS Office, excel, outlook, MRP/ERP system or ability to use customer portals and software
    • Strong communication skills (speaking, questioning, listening, writing) with ability to work with different levels in the organization.
