We are searching for a dynamic and motivated Inspector IV to join our team at our Bloomfield, Connecticut location. First shift hours are 6:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday, as business needs currently dictate one hour of mandatory daily overtime.

Our products are used in space, aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications. As an industry leader we design, test and manufacture the highest performing, self-lubricating, roller element, metal to metal and miniature bearings in the industry.

Position Summary:

Perform basic inspection activities of product, materials, first piece inspection and in-process monitoring as assigned. Report to Value Stream Manager/Sr. Team Leader on work assignments to meet production schedules. Report to Quality Assurance Supervisor regarding quality issues. Assign tasks to inspectors to ensure that production schedules are met.

Responsibilities:



  1. Perform visual and dimensional inspection of various mechanical components and assemblies to close tolerance. Perform first piece and in-process inspection in assigned value stream.




  1. Identify defects in surface, dimensional, visual and non-conformities (material, documentation and workmanship) to blueprints and Kamatics' quality standards. Report non-conformance of materials or unusual conditions to Quality Supervisor and cell leader.




  1. Demonstrate mastery using the following basic inspection devices to verify drawing specifications: caliper, micrometer, dial bores, chamfer gage, profilometer.




  1. Demonstrate mastery using the following advanced inspection device(s) to verify drawing specifications: optical comparator, sunnen gage, trimos height stand.




  1. Demonstrate proficiency using the following specialty inspection devices to verify drawing specifications: Johnson tri-roll, sin plate, torque gage.




  1. Demonstrate familiarity with the following specialty inspection devices: swing gage, contracer, digital comparator, cadillac gage, Keyence IM.




  1. Demonstrate mastery in measuring the following GD&T items: roundness, parallelism, concentricity, runout, perpendicularity, flatness, total runout.




  1. Demonstrate proficiency in measuring the following GD&T items: true position, material modifiers.




  1. Demonstrate familiarity with the following GD&T items: profile.




  1. Demonstrate mastery with CMM operation to inspect product. Able to calibrate probes as necessary.




  1. Using knowledge of inspection equipment and blue print reading, provide feedback and insight on appropriate and accurate gaging methods according to the blue print requirements.




  1. Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow work procedures. Maintain records, data and logs as necessary. Create inspection forms such as IMS, first article and other related forms.




  1. Navigate computer files and software to acquire necessary items for inspection, verification, etc. Use software such as Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets to present data.




  1. Provide leadership/training as needed. Ensure that production schedules are met.




  1. May include preparing products and related paperwork for presentation to customer or source inspection as a Designated Supplier Quality Representative for customers as well as interact with customers at source inspection when required.




  1. Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor.




  1. Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contribute to 5S programs in work area.




  1. Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.




  1. Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in training/learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed.



Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:




Education:



High school graduate or GED







Experience:



4+ years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment

2+ years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment or demonstrates equivalent experience.




Physical Demands:

Frequent mental and visual attention

Occasional (15-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.

Frequent walking and standing

Other:

Will be required to work overtime and weekends to meet customer needs

Ability to work flexible work schedule
