The UCI Center for Student Wellness & Health Promotion strives to be a leader in collegiate health promotion by focusing on the unique and relevant health needs and concerns of UCI students, in support of their academic success. We empower students to make informed decisions that support their individual health and a healthy campus environment by providing comprehensive programs and coordinated services.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced health education professional with a substantial understanding of public health research and campus culture/norms. Works to educate the UCI community on Alcohol and Other Drug topics, and manages the Peer Health Educator program. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and strategies for educating students and training student peer educators to carry out the mission of the department.

Required:

• Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field.
• Thorough knowledge of the design and delivery of related programs.
• Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services, and health promotion strategy, both large and small.
• Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups.
• Effective organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs.
• Familiarity with college/university campus needs and resources.
• Skill to utilize word processing and desktop publishing programs for use in program presentations.
• Bachelor's degree in related area
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, if holding a Bachelor's degree

Preferred:

• Ability to train and advise student peer educators.
• Skill to manage a budget and work within established purchasing procedures.
• Master's degree in related area
• 1-3 years experience in a related field, if holding a Master's degree

Special Conditions:

• May work occasional evenings and weekends.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $69,500- $83,000.
