Sterile Processing Technician (Ambulatory Surgery Center) - 1.0 FTE

The Sterilization Technician decontaminates, cleans, inspects, processes, assembles, replaces, sterilizes, stores, inventory/tracks and distributes medical instruments.Ensures instruments are available and ready when needed.Transports instruments and supplies between processing areas. Creates and maintains/updates manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU's) manuals. Cleans and maintains instrument processing areas and additional duties as assigned including but not limited to cleaning rooms, stocking, ordering supplies, trains/refreshes new and/or updated reprocessing policies/procedures for other staff members, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.Determines Operating Room surgical instrument needs for surgery cases and helps set up surgical instrument trays.Picks supplies for procedures in the surgery center, as well as the procedure center.

What you will do as a Sterile Processing Technician:

  • Cleans, decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment according to prescribed procedures and techniques.
  • Identifies, dates and stores cleaned, sterilized items.
  • Assembles instrument procedural cassettes for use in procedural and operating rooms by following all manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU's)
  • Creates, maintains and updates manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU) manuals.
  • Maintains and updates other clinical manuals and as assigned by supervisor
  • Responds to emergency requests for supplies and instruments.
  • Operates and completes quality testing, and maintenance of sterilizers and equipment types within the area.
  • Maintains safe and secure environment.
  • Prepares and uses solutions per manufacturer's instruction.
  • Works closely with coworkers and communicates to all levels of the professional users in person, through email and telephone conversations.
  • Contributes to a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide applicable care/service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served.

What you will need:

  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) and Certified Endoscope Re-processor (CER) required. *Must obtain both within one year of hire.
  • Central supply and order processing
  • Ability to understand detailed technical instructions on equipment operation.
  • Mechanical aptitude, and cleanliness.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail, documentation skills, manual dexterity, organizational skills, ability to lift and push up to 50 pounds.

Hours: 1.0 FTE 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM Monday - Friday

Compensation:

21.20 - 30.74 USD Hourly
