Position Summary: The Community Center Bus Driver is responsible for driving the SAL Community Center Bus with school age children to and from school to The SAL Community Center daily for the After School Program.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for driving The SAL bus to and from local elementary and middle schools to the SAL building for the After School Program (ASP) on all days school is in session.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the bus daily, by keeping it clean and making sure the bus is filled with gas and ready each day for field trips, as well as checking oil, water and transmission fluid weekly.
  • Responsible, along with the assistant rider on the bus, for the safety of all passengers.
  • Communicate problems or issues with the bus that need immediate attention and repair to the Community Center Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have an excellent driving record
  • Must have a valid CDL license with passenger endorsement


Education/Experience:



  • High School diploma / GED preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Previous experience working with youth


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:



  • Some knowledge of buses and how they function


Certificates and Licenses:



  • Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
  • Have and maintain a current valid commercial driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
  • Current First Aid / CPR certification, or ability to be certified within 30 days
