Job Summary: The Research Analyst (RA) will play a critical role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support informed policy decisions, program development, and operational effectiveness. Their work helps agencies fulfill their missions more efficiently and transparently. Duties:
- Analyze all-source intelligence addressing a broad range of issues, focusing on threats directed toward Department of State facilities, information, and personnel in the United States focusing on threat actor's capabilities and actions, political and cultural climates, social networks, and other issues as required. Performs NCIC checks to ensure suitability for building access.
- Monitor and analyze threat intelligence, reviewing this information for credibility, urgency, and specific target information. Prepares periodic/scheduled reports.
- Produce concise written and oral intelligence reports for use by Office of Domestic Facilities Protection personnel.
- Prepare regular written and oral intelligence summary reports for applicable Office of Domestic Facilities Protection personnel including the Uniformed Protection Division, Security Services Division, and Front Office.
- Prepare assessments and spot reports to include entry into Department of State databases.
- Brief appropriate DS personnel on security matters pertaining to the operating environment on a daily or weekly basis.
- Notify/communicate urgent threat information to the appropriate DS personnel.
- Perform liaison work with the interagency to include other DS offices, federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement and security personnel.
- Maintain and continue to develop the Office of Domestic Facilities Protection vetting program to include data entry, examination and analysis of results, and technical integration.
- Develop and use an indication and warning matrix to illustrate possible security threats towards Department of State facilities, personnel, and information within the United States and prepare reports that support these conclusions.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities: For bio approval, the RA shall meet all of the following qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of all-source intelligence analytical experience.
- Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of criminal intelligence experience performing as an intelligence analyst.
- Must have completed a formal law enforcement or military intelligence training course or have equivalent training through classified online courses and work experience demonstrating the use and function of the U.S. intelligence cycle.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading correspondence and using the computer, and acute hearing when providing phone and counter service to the public.
- Must maintain flexibility regarding job assignments, including other departments, locations, and mandatory overtime.
- Time flexibility depending on the needs of the company.
