Job Description
Now is a great time to join our Team in Easley! We are seeking to hire an experienced Customer Quality Engineer, this role will be responsible for specified activities in managing the customer interface for all aspect of product quality. Act as primary customer contact for specified customer related to quality topics and support / drive the manufacturing and assembly operations teams in addressing internal and customer issues through the application of core quality tools. Heavy focus on 8D and problem-solving methods for our customer base, as well as direct support of manufacturing and assembly operations to achieve internal goals related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Job Responsibilities
- Supports and complies with established Company's Corporate Principles and goals.
- Understand and comply with Quality requirements such as ISO 9000 and IATF 16949.
- Monitor manufacturing processes and assess product quality to determine adequacy, capability and ability to comply with customer specifications and company's specifications.
- Develop and maintain documents and procedures related to quality standards, risk analysis, lessons learned from product recalls, product audits, field returns and repairs, complaints, scrap, and rework, and retain documented information as evidence.
- Interpret prints and measurement tools (GD&T).
- Utilize basic quality tools along with problem solving and lean manufacturing techniques in the support of continuous improvement, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions promoting lessons learned process.
- Trigger additional escalation levels as needed to protect internal and external customer.
- Determine root cause of failure from customer's returns and lead the quality and problem solving activities to eliminate impact of non-conforming product in accordance with customer's specified processes.
- Protect customers from escaped quality issues by management of containment, sorting, corrective action and blocking suspected parts.
- Utilize data driven approach and tools (e.g.: Power BI) to help focus manufacturing team on critical to quality topics to achieve BU strategic goals.
- Perform activities in coordination with other departments, effectively respond and communicate in a timely manner. Developing and maintaining productive working relationships.
- Facilitate required customer certifications.
- Assist internal process audits and help facilitate corrective and preventive actions for findings.
- Work on other duties and special projects as it relates to the position.
Background & Skills
Required:
- 2+ years in Quality Engineering role.
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics or Industrial) or job equivalent experience in Customer Quality Department.
- Strong knowledge in problem solving methodology and techniques.
- Experience with direct customer interaction.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g.: Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- 5+ years in Quality Engineering role.
- Master's degree in engineering or correlate areas.
- Hydraulics industry experience.
- Recognized advanced problem solving certification (e.g.: Six Sigma Black Belt, Shainin).
- Knowledge with data analytics (Capability, Gage R&R, etc.).
- Recognized quality engineering qualification (e.g.: ASQ certification).
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- 2+ years knowledge in SAP system.
