Position Summary
The UNC Department of Family Medicine is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Temporary Administrative Support Specialist to join our academic team. This role is essential in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and providing a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors. The primary responsibilities of this position are serve as the first point of contact at the academic front desk: greet visitors, provide directions, and answer the main academic phone line. Manage mailroom operations, including sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and packages. Organize and maintain conference rooms and shared academic spaces. Support the Medical Student Education ( MSE) program by preparing and distributing rotation calendars. Assist faculty with travel arrangements and reimbursements. Perform a variety of administrative tasks and provide general support to academic staff and faculty as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous administrative or customer service experience preferred.
