Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist in the management of an applied weed science field research program conducted under the direction of Dr. Kevin Bradley in the Division of Plant Sciences and Technology at the University of Missouri. Specifically:

  • The candidate will be expected to layout field research plots, apply herbicides and other treatments, evaluate weed and crop response through collection of various forms of data, and generate summaries and annual research reports pertaining to these trials for industry cooperators, granting agencies, and professional societies.
  • The candidate will conduct standard agricultural field maintenance practices such as land preparation, planting, spraying, and harvesting of a variety of agronomic crops and forages in areas that will be utilized for small-plot research.
  • The candidate will be expected to work independently and cooperatively with other staff, graduate students, and faculty in the weed science program and Division of Plant Sciences.
  • The candidate will be expected to supervise undergraduate employees primarily through instruction of data collection and field plot maintenance practices.
  • The candidate will interact with industry representatives, growers, and others in the agricultural industry, and will have opportunities for participation in field days and grower meetings.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: M.S. in biological or agricultural sciences by the time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on: Experience in applied weed science and/or agronomy/crop production field research.
