The department of Athletics at WVU Tech is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Assistant Track and Cross-Country Coach.

About the Opportunity

This position will assist the Head Coach with responsibilities as required for an NAIA Division I or NCAA Division II Program.

What You'll Do



  • On field coaching responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.
  • Assess with preparation for competitions.
  • Assist in evaluating talent in current and prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting a strength conditioning program.
  • Assist in coordinating team meetings, athletic study halls, work outs, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring the academic progress, retention rates and graduation rates of student-athletes
  • Assist in disciplining and monitoring conduct of student-athletes.
  • Remain current and adhere to all Institutional, NCAA and/or NAIA rules.
  • Assist in compiling annual inventories and preparing for equipment purchases according to state purchasing policies.
  • Assist in maintaining a competitive team.
  • Assist with recruiting quality student athletes that meets the criteria established by the Athletic Administration.
  • Assist with organizing pre-game activities
  • Other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or the Director of Athletics.


Work Hours: 10 Hours per Week

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A minimum of two (2) years of collegiate playing experience
  • A minimum of one (1) year of successful coaching experience. (playing experience can substitute)
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



  • Successful coaching experience preferred.
  • Collegiate track& field experience.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head Track & Field Coach in the development of the sprinting events (100, 200, 400 & 800).
  • Ability to work positively with administration, athletic department staff, students and the Director of Athletics in developing and maintaining a good working relationship with the institution and the community.
  • Excellent computer skills.
