Position Overview:

Ameresco has a new opportunity for a Power Plant Specialist to join our team at the Tufts University Central Energy Plant (CEP) in Medford Massachusetts. The Plant Specialist willreport to the Regional Manager and have responsibility for plant safety, compliance, maintenance and operational reliability. The Plant Specialist will work with a small team that conducts the daily operations and maintenance activities for the facility

Responsibilities:

  • Thrive in Ameresco's safety-centric team culture.

  • Drive continuous safety improvement throughout the organization.

  • Report incidents, support investigations, and take corrective action.

  • Operate and maintain the facility in compliance with permits.

  • Build a compliance and environmentally conscious team.

  • Maintain a proactive equipment maintenance plan.

  • Coordinate contractors and perform maintenance activities efficiently.

  • Oversee planned maintenance outages and manage records.

  • Identify upgrades for safety and facility reliability.

  • Respond to and manage plant issues beyond regular hours.

  • Support Regional Manager in budgeting and cost management.

  • Propose cost reduction strategies without compromising safety or production.

  • Maintain operator qualification and training programs.

  • Review and revise plant standard operating procedures.

  • Handle material orders, schedule deliveries, and approve invoices.

  • Cultivate positive relationships with the Customer.

  • Review reports for accuracy and assist in special projects.

  • Perform other required duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or GED.

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience with operation and maintenance in an industrial setting.

  • Experience in power generation, boiler operation, district steam heating, and chilled water system operations.

  • Must have a working knowledge of reading and interpreting system drawings and/or P&IDs.

  • Valid US driver's license required. Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills are required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Formal and relevant technical training through military service, trade school, industrial experience, or technical training schools desired.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or technical discipline a plus.

  • Applicable military and merchant marine experience is highly valued.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook a plus.

  • Working knowledge of Maximo CMMS a plus
