About the Role

Springer Nature is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join the editorial team of Nature Methods.

The ideal candidate for this exciting position would be a critical thinker with a deep understanding of their subject, who is also curious and keen to handle manuscripts across a broad area of scientific research, and who has a particular interest in life sciences research methods development.We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in microscopy, imaging techniques and cell biology. The ideal candidate will also be highly motivated, be able to work well both independently and in a team environment, and have excellent communication skills.

This role can be in our New York, Jersey City, Shanghai, or Beijing offices on a hybrid working model.Internal candidates from any hub location are also welcome to apply.

Role responsibilities:

  • Handle original research manuscripts and work with the team on every aspect of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review.
  • Commission and edit Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, and News & Views.
  • Write Research Highlight and Editorials.
  • Engage with the scientific community via travel to conferences and research institutions.

Experience, Skills, & Qualifications:

  • A PhD in any basic biology research (or closely related) area, though we are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in microscopy and imaging technology and cell biology. Computational expertise is a plus.
  • A keen interest in research both within and beyond your specialty.
  • The ability to absorb and understand new areas of research.
  • Excellent literary skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Postdoctoral experience a plus.
  • Previous editorial experience a plus.

US Annualized Base Salary Range: Associate Editor: $80,000 | Senior Editor: $95,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
