Job Title: Test Lab Technician

Location: Keosauqua, IA

What we're looking for:

This position supports the design and validation of Dover Food Retail Food Display products through testing in our Product Engineering Test Lab. Candidates should be motivated individuals with strong mechanical, electrical, and problem-solving skillsets. Key functions of this role focus on the setup, testing, and troubleshooting of refrigerated display cases in collaboration with Test Lab Engineers.

What you'll be responsible for in this role:

  • Reviewing test requests to plan requirements for setup and testing.
  • Ensuring accurate and reliable test results through the setup and running of prescribed performance tests on refrigerated display cases in accordance with defined industry and company standards and practices as they apply to system evacuation, charging, functional checks, testing, installation of refrigeration piping, and installation/operation of small condensing units.
  • Understanding industry and regulatory requirements as they apply to product testing.
  • Troubleshooting test setup faults.
  • Supporting maintenance of test facility and equipment, ensuring that test equipment is in proper working order, and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Brazing copper to copper, brass, aluminum or other dissimilar metals.
  • Supporting the creation and maintenance of documentation of test procedures.
  • Supporting lab initiatives including lab cleanliness, maintenance, EHS, and continuing process improvement.
  • Understanding and adhering to all work safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

What are the basic qualifications?

  • H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the installation, servicing, troubleshooting, or manufacturing of commercial or residential HVAC, refrigeration, or similar equipment
  • Physically able to climb ladders and lift objects up to 50 lbs on a recurring basis.
  • Able to operate power tools and perform tasks that require fine motor skills.
  • Capable of obtaining EPA 608 certification for refrigeration handling within 6 months.

What are the preferred qualifications?

  • A.S. or CSC in HVAC-R and/or NATE Light Commercial Refrigeration Certifications.

To be a great fit for the role:

  • Brazing experience.
  • Working knowledge of refrigerated display cases, electrical systems, and refrigeration controls.
  • Experience with Lean principals, such as 5S.
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC type lab equipment, DAQ systems and measurement devices.
  • Operational knowledge of chillers, air handlers, commercial HVAC systems in general.
  • Good oral and written communications skills and solid computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
