MizzouRec Services and Facilities is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides quality leisure experiences to all members of the campus community, primarily Mizzou students. Research shows a positive correlation between physical activity and educational outcomes of university students. Recreational sports and exercise provide students with opportunities for involvement and to develop a sense of belonging on campus.

Job Description

Summary
Are you passionate about student development, onboarding, training, and career readiness? Join our team at MizzouRec as the Coordinator for Student Staff Experience, where you'll lead our department efforts in conjunction with Human Resources and others to enhance the overall experience of our entire Team Mizzou staff. You will work with a supportive group of Student Affairs professionals to create impactful experiences for student employees. From the first interaction with our department to their final days as a Mizzou student and beyond, this position will serve as an advocate for our Team Mizzou students while they are employed with our department. Additionally, this position will work with Alumni Relations to continue building our department's relationship with former Team Mizzou members.

As the Coordinator, you will collaborate closely with other MizzouRec and Student Affairs professionals, making a positive impact in the lives of our students. Using your background and experience with leadership development, you will provide leadership and development of the department's student employment program and evaluation related to department, division, and university goals and competencies. This includes 400+ students who perform a variety of frontline services to the Mizzou community.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and lead annual hiring cycles and onboarding elements, including department orientation for new student staff.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities and department-wide training for student staff.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of recognition programs and events for student staff.
  • Work closely with the Division of Student Affairs Human Resources team in onboarding, training, certifications, and recordkeeping for all Team Mizzou members.
  • Lead the department Risk Management committee and implement risk management training for the entire department.
  • Work directly with the System Risk Management office and Environmental Health and Safety to ensure MizzouRec is adhering to best practices.
  • Oversee student staff uniforms inventory and ordering.
Shift

40 hours a week
Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

This position will require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in a related area. An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Two years in leadership or managerial experience with a preference for working with college students and/or employment programs. Education in a related field may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Range: $21.71 - $25.00
