Summary The Head of California Drayage Operations is responsible for leading the execution of the Drayage Strategy and overseeing Drayage Operations in Southern California, managing approximately $75 million in annual revenue. This role directs a complex multi-carrier operation in Southern California, utilizing a range of capacity models including asset-based battery-electric trucks, dedicated fleets, independent contractors, and third-party providers. The business is managed through a combination of onsite and remote teams tasked with achieving financial goals, supporting daily operations, improving efficiency, and advancing continuous improvement and strategic initiatives. The team is comprised of approximately 130 drivers which are part of a Collective Bargining agreement along with 40 on shore resources and 30 off shore support resources. This leader is expected to ensure operational consistency, optimize cost-to-serve, and deliver best-in-class service in a dynamic and evolving environment. Key accountabilities and responsibilities
- Build a strong, experience and self-driven team to support strategic initiatives, business growth and business management.
- Engage with Key Customers at Senior Level to strengthen relationships and ensure our vision is in sync with those of our customers.
- Ensure that Drayage activities are conducted in compliance with regulations, and with the Maersk Code of Conduct.
- Engage with terminal leadership to drive optimization
- Support company sustainability initiatives by effectively operating our Electric Vehicle fleet
- Collaborate across different business units, build on synergies and ensure scale is built where applicable.
- Foster good relationships with Port Operators, Port Associations and industry forums.
- Represent the organization with labor relationship engagements, as required
- Deliver on budgeted financial results
- Drive a safe working culture with staff and drivers
Required experience & skills
- Minimum 10 years of experience within logistics, business management, and leadership
- Good knowledge of Accounting/Finance
- Strong understanding of processes Transportation and/or logistics
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office
- Good level of knowledge of finance/control requirements and processes, preferably through hands on experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Proactive self-starter with a can-do-attitude
- Experience with leading transformation
- Strong Change management skills

Pay Range: $220,000- $230,000 *The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
