Senior Tax Operations Director - US Compliance and Global Reporting (Remote)

As the Senior Tax Operations Director, you will report directly to the Head of Tax and will be generally responsible for the management of all aspects of the US Tax Compliance and Income Tax Reporting for Fortrea.

Currently much of this work is being outsourced with third party provider(s), therefore lots of opportunity to lead strategy, oversight and review of the work being performed by external advisors while leading internal preparation and coordination.

Responsibilities include:

  • Management and review of the consolidated global tax provision under US GAAP in OneSource Tax Provision (OTP) software in accordance with ASC 740 principles
  • Ensure tax accounts are properly stated in the company's ERP system (Workday)
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements income tax disclosures and coordination with internal SEC team
  • Work with FP&A on achieving legal entity quarterly forecasts for tax provision purposes
  • Responsible for ensuring tax SOX controls are appropriate, followed and properly documented
  • Main point of contact for the company's external tax auditors for review of the tax provision calculations, financial statement disclosures and all related matters
  • Review of and responsibility for the filing of the US consolidated federal income tax return and all associated schedules and calculations (preparation is outsourced using OneSource Income Tax Return "OIT")
  • Review of and responsibility for the filing of the US state income tax returns and all associated schedules and calculations (preparation is outsourced using OneSource Income Tax Return "OIT")
  • Assist with managing outsourcing engagements with third party providers for the preparation of the US tax provision, US income tax returns, transfer pricing analysis and documentation and R&D tax credits
  • Collaborate with and build strong work relationships with some key internal stakeholders (Accounting/Controllership, Treasury, Finance, FP&A, etc.)
  • Assist with the management of all US Federal and state income tax audits and inquiries
  • Manage the Annual Report compliance process (currently outsourced)
  • Consult on US indirect tax and other general tax matters
  • Support M&A transactions and calculations

Essential skills:

  • Self-starter that can work independently and has experience working remotely
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP / ASC 740 accounting rules, US federal and state tax laws and related reporting requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have experience managing and working in Thompson Reuters OneSource suite of products; specifically, OTP and OIT
  • Proactive to identify, propose and implement improvements to our team's work
  • Embrace the use of technology for improvement of tax processes; bonus for experience implementing technology solutions
  • Ability to research, analyze and document tax positions
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner (orally and in writing) when dealing with individuals internally and externally

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of experience in the tax organization of a public or private company or combination of both
  • Experience in managing the global tax provision (ideally in OTP) for a public SEC registrant

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Taxation or other advanced tax degree
  • Public accounting experience
  • CPA

Pay Range: $160,000-$240,000 (The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity)
