Overview

Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the EHS Manager and/or Director, the Regional EHS Representative is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and supporting company-wide initiatives related to occupational safety, health, environmental compliance, and regulatory adherence. This role partners closely with operational leadership to drive a proactive safety culture across multiple sites.



Responsibilities

    Champion a positive, safety-first culture in alignment with BMC's mission, vision, and core values.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment through education, communication, and consistent policy enforcement.
  • Serve as a reliable first point of contact for EHS-related needs, guidance, and support for the branches within the assigned region.
  • Manage and promote the Branch Health Safety (BHS) program, ensuring consistent implementation of policies, training, and safety initiatives.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments of facilities and job sites to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, DHEC, EPA, and internal safety standards.
  • Identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and regulatory compliance gaps and communicate findings with actionable recommendations to the Safety Manager and EHS Director.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and incident investigations, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the EHS Management System and lead initiatives to reduce incidents and improve operational safety.
  • Oversee and maintain Driver Qualification Files, ensuring compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Lead or assist with New Hire EHS orientation and hands-on equipment safety training.
  • Develop and deliver site-specific safety training and toolbox talks across operational teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting for OSHA 300 logs, MSHA reports, DOT logs, environmental permits, and other regulatory filings.
  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics, trends, and leading/lagging indicators using Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or equivalent tools.
  • Collaborate with Workers' Compensation case managers, HR, and supervisors on claim management and return-to-work programs.
  • Serve as a regional emergency response resource, assisting in incident command support and crisis communication planning.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and project managers to ensure third-party safety compliance.
  • Support facility-level emergency preparedness plans and participate in mock drills and safety stand-downs.
  • Maintain organized, accessible documentation and records for audits, inspections, and internal reviews.
  • Participate in EHS committee meetings, task forces, and improvement projects.
  • Travel up to 30% to conduct site visits, training, and compliance checks throughout the assigned region.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager and/or EHS Director.


Qualifications

  • Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field experience preferred; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Professional safety certifications (OSHA 30, CHST, ASP, GSP, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in an EHS-related role, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or heavy equipment industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, DOT regulations, and environmental regulations (DHEC, EPA).
  • Experience in job hazard analysis (JHA), safety data sheet (SDS) management, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Working knowledge of incident management systems and reporting software.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, PowerBI).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-site environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive matters.
  • Calm under pressure and capable of exercising sound judgment in emergency or high-stress situations.
  • Spanish-speaking candidates preferred due to the diversity of the workforce and customer relations.
