Description

We are currently searching for a PVC Operator to be based out of Binghamton NY. Reporting to the Production Manager, this person will be responsible and have primary focus to safely and independently run all aspects of the PVC extrusion lines ensuring that product meets all applicable internal and external specifications. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and able to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

What you'll do:

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Understand and master the computerized systems associated with the extrusion, control, and printing technologies used in our facility
  • Responsible for measuring product to ensure that pipe products are made in conformance with required specifications. The appearance of our end product must meet or exceed the requirements of the market
  • Able to read micrometer, Caliper and OD tape
  • Perform inspections of proper print, wall, O.D., length, appearance, and bell fit on all lines
  • Responsible for cleaning any and all filters on assigned lines
  • Able to change print lines
  • Complete Quality Control forms accurately and correctly
  • Monitor pipe physicals
  • Identify and resolve quality issues
  • Repair red tag products
  • Confirm product with schedule
  • Complete operator paperwork (Operator sheets, forklift check sheet, etc.)
  • Perform maintenance and cleanup for production and storage areas.
  • Know and follow plant safety rules and wears proper PPE (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, and gloves)
  • Able to prioritize tasks and anticipate needs in order to effectively manage time in order to accomplish all tasks
  • Proficient with all material handling and packaging devices including forklifts, pallet jacks and banding tools
  • Is responsible for housekeeping in assigned area
  • All other assigned duties


What you'll bring:



  • Minimum educational requirement is high school diploma, or equivalent
  • The ability to quickly learn PVC extrusion operation and change over procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Good understanding of basic math required for quick and accurate counting and calculations
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, time management, and organization
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
  • Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to drive the forklift in the absence of normal Forklift operator. Includes being proficient with all material handling and packaging devices including forklifts, pallet jacks, banders, and scale systems.


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Zero safety incidents in past 90 days of evaluation date
  • Less than 15 attendance points on the date of evaluation
  • No documented warnings in past 90 days of evaluation
  • Minimum of 9 months PVC Extrusion experience

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $22.50-$25.50. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
