Position Summary

The National Account Executive (NAE) is responsible for managing and expanding relationships with key national accounts, including wholesalers, distributors, pharmacy chains, Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), PBMs, and other strategic partners. This role drives revenue growth, negotiates contracts, ensures product access, and supports the company's commercial strategy across the U.S. market. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of the generic pharmaceutical landscape and strong experience in account management, pricing, and market access.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve corporate sales objectives and profitability within assigned national accounts.
  • Establish and maintain high-level relationships with decision-makers at major wholesalers, distributors, retail chains, mail-order pharmacies, GPOs, and institutional buyers.
  • Develop and negotiate pricing, support product distribution, collaborate and negotiate supply agreements, and other commercial activity in line with company strategy and compliance policies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, finance, regulatory, IT, and legal teams to support customer needs.
  • Monitor account performance, contract compliance, purchasing trends, and market shifts; provide regular reporting and forecasting.
  • Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and support the onboarding of new accounts as needed.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Support new product launches to align with company goals.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FDA/DEA regulations, drug pricing dynamics, competitive landscape, and customer business models.


Qualifications:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum 15 years of pharmaceutical sales/account management experience, with at least 3 years in generics or specialty generics. (Master's degree and 13 years' experience)
  • Proven success in negotiating contracts and managing complex accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution channels, pricing strategies, and reimbursement.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Extensive travel is required.
  • High ethical standards.


Preferred:



  • Experience working with major wholesalers, distributors, national retail pharmacy chains, and/or GPOs.
  • Understanding of government pricing, 340B, Medicaid, and other pricing programs.

Physical and Environmental



  • Perform job functions in various positions that may require sitting, stooping, balancing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and/or reaching. While sitting for an extended period of time on a routine basis, incumbent may use the following equipment: Personal computer, telephone/ other voice communication devices, copier, fax or other specialized equipment used in an office setting.
