The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA, the Association) is seeking a strategic, visionary, and politically astute Executive Director to lead the nation's largest statewide coalition of public water agencies. The Executive Director oversees an annual budget of approximately $11 million, nine (9) direct and approximately 40 indirect staff, and works in close partnership with a 37-member Board of Directors (Board).

ACWA is a nonprofit, statewide association that represents approximately 470 public water agencies in California. The Executive Director leads the organization in three core areas: personally engaging in advancing state and federal advocacy to shape policy and support member interests; managing internal operations; and, fostering strong, consistent engagement with a diverse membership-spanning agencies of all sizes-through outreach and promotion of ACWA's services and value. The ideal candidate brings extensive organizational and thought leadership, policy advocacy, Board relations, and senior-level experience within the water, environmental, and/or public agency sectors. They should possess strong knowledge of California water policy, strong financial and operational expertise, and the ability to lead with credibility, diplomacy, and effective communication in complex political environments.
