ABOUT THE JOB

The Senior Equipment Technician is responsible for the refurbishment, assembly and testing of various types of water treatment equipment in order to support the sale or rental of assets to WaterSurplus customers. This position supports the company's need to build inventory of usable water treatment equipment to meet the overall strategic goals and objectives of the organization. This position also trains and mentors production staff on tools, techniques and skills to refurbish equipment.

Responsibilities



  • Mechanical and electrical repair or replacement of worn, damaged or defective parts by using a wide range of both hand and power tools to refurbish used equipment or systems.
  • Assemble, install and repair electrical wiring, components, piping systems of both plastic (PVC) and metal (SS or CS) as required. Includes PVC gluing of piping, minor welding for skids, cutting and fitting of components for repairs, threaded pipe assembly, etc.
  • Inspect, operate and test equipment to verify proper operation and/or identify needed repairs.
  • Ensures compliance with company procedures and processes for accurately recording all operational activities.
  • Operate powered forklifts for moving of skids, pallets and equipment as necessary to perform refurbishment duties.
  • Operate company vehicles as needed.
  • Serve as a backup to Inventory and Warehouse personnel, assisting with the movement, handling, and storage of assets as needed.
  • Support a safe workplace by adhering to the company's safety program. Follow all OSHA regulations as well as applicable State of Illinois requirements for shop manufacturing and production operations.
  • Train and mentor production staff on the tools, techniques and skills required to refurbish water treatment equipment.
  • Travel to customer job sites may be required to repair, start up or train on equipment.
  • May provide guidance or direction to production staff to ensure successful project execution.

ABOUT YOU



  • Associate's degree in mechanical or electrical design, equipment repair, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 - 7 + years relevant experience in equipment repair, maintenance, and/or plumbing.
  • Valid class d driver's license to operate company vehicles.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Water treatment equipment experience preferred.
  • PLC programming experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively work independently, as part of a team, and to build strong working relationships with other departments including all levels of management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to identify potential risks and take preventive steps to mitigate those risks.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide or coordinate the work of others, even without formal supervisory duties.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, ascend or descend stairs, and walk for extended periods of time in an office or manufacturing setting or outdoors, including areas where conditions may include odors, varying temperatures, humidity, and moderate levels of noise.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the facility and/or job.
  • The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely use power hoist, pallet transport trucks, powered forklifts, and banding machines and or company vehicles.
  • Close vision and hand eye coordination required to efficiently and safely perform job.


Travel:

May be required to travel at times for work related activities.

Expected Compensation: $29.03 - $38.08/hr + 5% bonus eligibility
