ABOUT THE JOB The Field Service Technician, working directly with the Director of Site Services to execute the company's need to provide reliable client service, maintenance repair, and testing of all equipment to meet the overall goals and objectives of the organization. Responsibilities
- Provide on-site customer services, including:
- Equipment and system installation
- Field service start-ups and commissioning
- Troubleshooting
- Media and membrane loading or replacements
- Equipment reviews and diagnostics
- Routine maintenance and repairs of water treatment systems
- Operator training and technical support
- Ensure successful project completion by meeting field service goals, managing costs for time and materials, and delivering timely equipment start-ups.
- Support the Production Manager at the Loves Park, IL facility by assisting with:
- Equipment refurbishments and build-outs
- Rental return evaluations
- Testing of equipment for final delivery or inventory storage
- Maintain and operate all necessary tools, hardware, and company vehicles required for field service activities.
- Operate company vehicles in accordance with policy and safety standards.
- Promote a safe work environment by adhering to the company's safety program, OSHA regulations, and applicable Illinois state requirements for shop and field operations.
- Travel to customer sites for:
- Sales and quoting support
- Equipment troubleshooting and repairs
- Water audits and service reviews
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ABOUT YOU
- Associate degree in a technical field or completion of a U.S. Department of Labor-approved 4-year technical apprenticeship.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in equipment service/startup, maintenance, plumbing, or control systems.
- Water treatment industry experience strongly preferred.
- Valid Class D driver's license.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude; hands-on experience with tools and diagnostic instruments.
- Preferred experience with:
- Electrical systems and PLC programming
- Water treatment processes such as filtration, ion exchange, and membrane systems
- Troubleshooting of pumps, valves, chemical feed systems, and general automation
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Equipment drawings
- Process flow diagrams (PFDs)
- P&IDs
- Electrical schematics, technical specifications, and manuals
- Understanding of process design, water chemistry, and the use of water testing tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning new digital tools or systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and collaborate across departments and management levels.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and walk for extended periods across a variety of work environments (office, shop floor, or outdoors).
- Tolerance for conditions including odors, varying temperatures, humidity, and moderate noise levels.
- Close vision and hand-eye coordination required for safe equipment handling and detailed tasks.
- Safely operate power hoists, pallet trucks, powered forklifts, and company vehicles.
- May be required to work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job or site.
Travel: Up to 75% travel required, including both local and domestic air travel.
