SummarySupports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus. Job Description SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS Required Certifications and Training Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility. Experience Level with Business Tools Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. LEVEL DESCRIPTION Skill As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways. Job Complexity Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications or work and makes recommendations for solutions. Supervision Determines methods and procedures reviewed by others on new assignments. May be a formal or informal team leader. Typical Education and Experience Associate's degree or equivalent experience 6 - 8 years of related experience ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to Travel Initially, availability for frequent travel will be required. Frequency of travel may change over time. Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation. Medium work that will frequentlyrequire employee to lift/move up to 30 lbs. and occasionallylift more than 50 lbs. Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving heavy equipment and/or supplies frequently. Reaching above and below the shoulder occasionally. Above average agility and dexterity with the ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and use hand and power tools frequently.
