Altaflex, a division of OSI Electronics, is seeking a part-time on-call SMT Rework Technician to perform efficient, effective, and highly reliable surface mount micro-component replacement and repairs on a wide variety of flexible printed circuits and electronic circuit boards. Hours will vary between 0-20 hours per week after an initial full-time training period of six (6) weeks.


Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical rework tasks in support of all manufacturing requirements.
  • Verifies correct solder and flux chemistry is being used.
  • Work from BOM, Assembly drawings and/or verbal instructions to repair or modify assemblies.
  • Perform hand solder & touch-up as needed for SMT & Through-hole components, add Jumper wire, remove/install components per IPC-A-610 Class 2 and Class 3.
  • Proficient in developing rework activities on critical components such as micro-BGA, 01005, 0201 and thru-hole devices.
  • Identify essential soldering aids, solder wire diameter, soldering tips and associated consumables and maintain necessary inventory.

  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • High School degree required. Years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 5+ years experience as a rework technician or a similar position.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 practices desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret BOM, assembly drawing and assembly instructions desired.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills needed.
  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally effectively communicate in the business language (English).
