Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Central Sterile Processing Manager applies managerial skills and technical expertise to achieve organizational objectives through the management of daily operations, overseeing supervisors, and coordinating staff achievements. This role is responsible for collaborating in the establishment of departmental goals and objectives and manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. This individual ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and defined regulatory requirements; participates in establishing and adherence to quality and safety standards; identifies opportunities for process improvement; and maintains effective communication with client departments. The incumbent is responsible for human resource management and determining optimal deployment of personnel and resources to achieve high-quality objectives and patient care.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of sterile processing operations
  • Proven problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills to evaluate complex issues, identify problems, and determine and implement appropriate, effective solutions. Demonstrates sound judgment
  • Proficient with MS Windows applications and surgery scheduling systems. Ability to produce presentations and comprehensive reports.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization from senior management to bedside staff
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with staff and management.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in sterile processing
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated supervisor and/or leadership skills in employee supervision and human resources administration to effectively manage, lead, and motivate others
  • Knowledge of relevant medical center, Human Resources, and UC policies and processes. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant internal policy and external regulations
  • Knowledge of procurement management
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Established ability to organize operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving processes, procedures, and systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with supply chain management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and effectively manage conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage staff with diverse skills and expertise
  • Current full CRCST or CSPDT certification. Must maintain certification by taking CEUs and renewing certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Ability to present complex information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to implement process improvement strategies and quality initiatives
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
