Position Title: Network Engineerr (TS/SCI required) Location: Washington, DC Clearance: TS/SCI Position Summary Command Cyber Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure and reliable network infrastructure. The Network Engineer will possess hands-on experience with enterprise network technologies, protocols, and tools and will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of LAN/WAN, cloud, and data center networks. This role requires strong technical acumen, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues related to connectivity, latency, and throughput. Implement and enforce network security policies and access controls to protect data and system integrity. Support the integration of on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid networks across enterprise environments. Manage IP address allocations, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services. Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and preventative maintenance to ensure network reliability and compliance. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to monitor for anomalies, address vulnerabilities, and support incident response. Document network topology, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Assist in the planning and execution of network expansion, migrations, and modernization initiatives. Provide tier 2/3 support for escalated network issues and act as a technical advisor for new projects.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in network administration or engineering in government environments.
Certification Required:
CompTIA Security+ (Required) Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIS, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent (Preferred). Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate are a plus.
Experience Required:
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and other core networking protocols. Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar enterprise-class networking equipment. Familiarity with SD-WAN, network segmentation, QoS, and network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow). Experience with VPNs, firewalls, proxies, and remote access configurations. Understanding of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid network architectures. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of enterprise network architecture, infrastructure standards, and best practices. Knowledge of firewalls, ACLs, IDS/IPS, and other perimeter security technologies. Skill in configuring and troubleshooting routing, switching, and security devices. Skill in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing network traffic and performance metrics. Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams. Ability to work independently or collaboratively to resolve complex network issues. *Ability to stay current with emerging technologies, threats, and solutions in the networking space.
