POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State's SIMBA program is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Linux Systems Administrator to join the BASIS team. This role is essential to the operational support and advancement of the university's enterprise financial systems.

LOCATION

This position can operate fully remote from within the United States during standard east coast business hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the daily operations of virtual machines and related services across Microsoft Azure IaaS and on-premises environments.

  • Ensure proper operational support of systems and servers, including installation and maintenance of virtual server hardware/software.

  • Monitor system performance, ensure high availability, and maintain frequent backups and recovery methods.

  • Manage virtual hardware associated with SAP systems and be trained internally on SAP-specific issues.

  • Respond to and remediate system incidents, including after-hours support for patches and planned outages.

  • Engage with stakeholders through the ServiceNow ticketing system to address and resolve issues.

  • Troubleshoot and support incidents within SIMBA landscapes.

  • Provide technical guidance to IT staff and management on infrastructure considerations, deployments, and upgrades.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation and internal knowledge base articles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of Systems administration experience on RHEL Linux

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.

  • Proficient in Bash scripting and/or Ansible for automation of system management tasks.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues and work with vendors to resolve them.

  • Experience with network troubleshooting in complex environments.

  • Ability to provide architectural and configuration recommendations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • SSL certificate management.

  • SSO/SAML integration.

  • RedHat Pacemaker.

  • SAP system administration.

  • Basic understanding of database technologies.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $76,700.00 - $115,100.00.
