Job Summary
This experienced professional provides technical leadership and performs a variety of duties relating to the Revenue Cycle Clinical Information Systems applications, initiatives and projects. Responsibilities include: Providing leadership and serving as technical resource to the team; Leading and assisting with process development, analysis, testing, implementation, and support of information systems, including reporting, interfaces with ancillary systems, and data analytics; Participating in planning, developing, training, implementation, and evaluation of Epic Resolute applications and connected systems to support ongoing operations and ensure development, evaluation, and ongoing support.
This technical leader provides a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure. This role may also manage projects medium to large and systems that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, with broad scope and complexity.
This position supports reporting, analysis and analytics for the organization. Assists in transforming disparate reporting needs, source data and processes into a cohesive reporting vision and strategy. Must have strong communication skills to work and interact directly with end users and various levels of staff to determine and implement the best solutions for complex data and databases. Responsible for project scope, data requirements, design, development, analysis, validation, scheduling and other technical aspects to support business needs. - Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years' experience working with clinical/financial information systems.
- Database experience (development, maintenance and support).
- Experience working with interfaced/integrated multi-vendor applications preferred.
- Experience implementing and supporting Epic's Reporting Workbench, Dashboards, Application Reports, Clarity, and Cogito.
- Experience implementing and supporting revenue centered HL7 interfaces.
- Academic institution or large integrated health systems experience preferred.
- 2+ year of Clarity experience developing complex/custom analytics reports; proficient with Epic Clarity data modeling.
- Expert-level report development skills using MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc. and reporting tools like SAP Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Tableau or SAS.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of revenue related operational practices and principles.
- Synthesizes knowledge of business operations and end-user requirements to improve or develop system design, functionality and training projects.
- Knowledge of data modeling/architecture principles to produce accurate and timely reports/data.
- Ability to comprehend, translate requirements and deliver product. Identifies and communicates problems in a collaborative and professional manner.
- Interacts with non-technical users with the ability to explain and communicate technical information in a way that is understandable and logical in order to allow them to make business decisions.
- Analytical skills to develop, comprehend and synthesize complex technical, clinical, and fiscal information; conveys information succinctly and accurately to management and teams.
- Application of appropriate methods and tools to the systems development life cycle as related to informatics.
- Proficient in office automation software (work processing, spreadsheets, visual presentation such as MS Project, Visio, etc.)
- Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with key personnel and management, providing guidance and recommendations on systems, improvements, upgrades, and industry advances and trends.
- Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnoses problems, and develops, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, plan and implement testing systems, collect and analyze performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses for management use.
- Works autonomously and takes initiative in a self-directed, professional, and productive manner to produce high quality deliverables with minimal direction.
- Ability to work overtime, flexible hours as needed to meet business and project needs.

Department Overview The Coding and CDI Department is a critical part of the healthcare organization, dedicated to improving patient care, supporting research, and facilitating education through the efficient management of medical records and clinical databases. The department, which consists of over 200 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) across diverse units, is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and compliance of patient information, which is crucial for clinical decision-making, billing accuracy, and regulatory adherence.
The department includes key groups such as Inpatient and Outpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (IP/OP CDI), All Coding Operations, the CDI Coding Quality Analyst Group, the Coding and CDI Clinical Analyst Team, and the Provider Advocate Team. Each of these teams plays a specialized role in supporting the organization's health information needs.
IP/OP CDI focuses on ensuring that clinical documentation accurately reflects the complexity and severity of patient care, contributing to appropriate coding, billing, and reimbursement. All of Coding Operations ensures that all patient records are coded accurately according to industry standards and regulatory requirements, supporting billing processes and ensuring compliance. The CDI Coding Quality Analyst Group is responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of clinical documentation and coding processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency. The Coding and CDI Clinical Analyst Team focuses on the analysis and optimization of clinical data systems, ensuring that health information is easily accessible and accurate across the organization in collaboration with other department data analysts. The Provider Advocate Team collaborates directly with physicians and other clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and smooth integration of clinical data into patient records.
Together, these teams ensure that the department not only supports day-to-day clinical operations but also plays a key role in broader strategic initiatives. The Coding and CD Department ensures that data integrity is maintained, healthcare regulations are followed, and operational workflows are optimized to support patient care and organizational efficiency.
