PURPOSE:

The primary role of the Control Systems Engineer is to oversee installation and the maintenance of process measurement and control instrumentation for the refinery to support Operations and Maintenance with daily execution.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop and maintainProcess Control infrastructure for the refinery
  • Provide daily troubleshooting of Process Control issues for the refinery
  • PID Loop Tuning
  • Improve existing control schemes
  • Maintain Microsoft HMI network
  • Develop and maintainthe Process Control GUI diagrams
  • Interface with operations, maintenance, and engineering to ensure systemaccurately representsfield processes and equipment
  • Support refinery alarm management, console health metrics, alarm data, alarm reporting, and rationalization activities
  • Drive and / or participatein the MOC process including initiation, evaluation, completing assigned work, and startup safety reviews
  • Review and provide strategic development of new technologiesfor the refinery to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
  • Manage external resources as needed
  • Interface with Process Control System vendor to ensure reliable system performance
  • Perform project engineering where required
  • Provide project management of Process Control projects
  • Provide project management of Process Control/SIS/Electrical projects
  • Develop Instrumentation specifications for new instruments

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; focus in Electrical, Chemical or Computer Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years Process Control experience required

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:


  • Safety Systems experience preferred
  • Experience in a refinery or petrochemical facility preferred

COMPETENCIES:


  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong Microsoft Network knowledge and experience
  • Strong interpersonal & teamwork skills
  • Programming experience with DCSsystems, ABB Infi90 and 800xa preferred
