Our ~15,000 employees create world-class solutions in communications, 5G, automotive, energy, quantum, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor markets for customers in over 100 countries. Learn more about what we do. Our award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers. Are you a visionary engineer who thrives on building the future? Do you excel at the intersection
of systems architecture, software development, and emerging technologies?
Keysight's Network Test business is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the exploration and
creation of next-generation solutions for network and AI systems verification. This isn't your
typical engineering role. You will operate 12-18 months ahead of the market, collaborating
directly with our most advanced customers and ecosystem partners to define what's next.
You will be the hands-on technical engine for our strategic proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives.
Your work will directly influence Keysight's technology roadmap and shape the future of how
complex, AI-driven network systems are designed, tested, and measured. If you are a polyglot
programmer with a passion for tackling ambiguous challenges and turning innovative ideas into
working prototypes, we want to talk to you.
Responsibilities * Pioneer & Innovate: Dive deep into emerging technologies-from new network
protocols and distributed system architectures to the application of AI/ML in system
validation. You'll research, analyze, and build PoCs that demonstrate the art of the
possible.
* Architect & Build: This is a hands-on-keyboard role. You will write new code, integrate
diverse software frameworks, and build robust prototypes that solve complex, systemlevel
problems. Your work will span the full stack, from high-level application logic
down to low-level hardware-software interfaces.
* Shape Strategy: Act as a key technical advisor to internal and external stakeholders. You
will translate customer-driven "what if" scenarios and your own research into tangible
technology vectors that guide our product, engineering, and business leadership.
* Lead Through Influence: Serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader. You will
mentor other engineers, publish your findings, and present at industry forums, enhancing
Keysight's reputation as an innovation powerhouse.
* Engage the Ecosystem: Work hand-in-glove with technology leaders at our key
customers and partners. You will be their trusted technical collaborator, understanding
their future challenges and co-developing solutions that will define the industry's future.
Qualifications * A seasoned, self-directed engineer with a demonstrated history of technical leadership
and driving projects from concept to reality.
* A systems-level thinker who can reason about complex, distributed architectures and
pinpoint opportunities for innovation and optimization.
* A polyglot coder who is fluent in multiple languages (like C/C++, Python, Go, Rust) and
is excited to learn new ones to get the job done.
* An insatiably curious technologist who is constantly learning and experimenting with
new tools, frameworks, and paradigms.
* An exceptional communicator who can articulate complex technical ideas with clarity
and passion to both deeply technical and executive audiences.
* A pragmatic problem-solver who can navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities,
and deliver results with a high degree of autonomy.
Core Qualifications:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related
field.
* 10+ years of experience in software development and systems engineering, with a proven
track record as a senior individual contributor (Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer,
Architect).
* Deep, hands-on expertise in designing and building scalable, high-performance
distributed systems.
* Expert-level proficiency in C/C++ and/or Python, with significant experience in a multilanguage
environment.
* Strong domain knowledge in computer networking (L2-L7 protocols, network
architecture) and/or systems design & verification.
* Demonstrated experience in a pathfinding, advanced development, or strategic PoCfocused
role, working directly with customers or external partners.
Bonus Points:
* Experience with AI/ML frameworks and their application to systems or networking
problems.
* Familiarity with test and measurement methodologies and platforms.
* Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and
cloud infrastructure.
* A history of patents, publications, or presentations at industry conferences. Careers Privacy Statement ***Keysight is an Equal Opportunity Employer.*** California Pay Range: MIN $149,850.00 - MAX $249,750.00 |
